Aaroh Sitar

The sitar is a long-necked string instrument with both primary and supplementary strings, tightened at the top of the neck by plugs.

It’s ethereal, delicate, and shimmery timbre has left an imprint on genres from pop, rock, and jazz to classical minimalism, capturing ears around the world. This pack was produced and performed by Mehtab Ali Niazi in Mumbai’s Island City Studios using an array of microphones and preamps. Mehtab is the son and disciple of Ustad Mohsin Ali Khan, belonging to the Moradabad Bhendi Bazar Gharana. His accolades include India Today’s Next 100 Achiever, Surjyotsna National Music Award and Shri Shanmukhananda fellowship Award amongst others.
