Features & Additional information

Found Sound Nation presents this sample pack of traditional Korean instruments in collaboration with Jiha Park.

Recorded at Sunday Chips Studio in Seoul, this pack primarily features Piri (double reed bamboo oboe), Saenghwang (bamboo mouth organ), and Yanggeum (hammered dulcimer). Drawing from her background as both a composer and performer of these traditional instruments, Jiha uses improvised playing techniques to create rich harmonic loops highlighting their sonic identities. Park Jiha is a multi-instrumentalist and composer who approaches ancient Korean instruments like the Piri, Saenghawng, and Yanggeum from the perspective of a modern, improvisatory minimalist. Her music offers a spacious, resonant soundscape of precisely wrought melodic moments. She has so far released three solo albums via Tak:til/Glitterbeat Records: Communion (2018), Philos (2019), and The Gleam (2022).Produced by Found Sound Nation. Edited and Mixed by Christopher Botta. Demo by Marcio Zygmunt, a.k.a Marcioz
