Alexander Painter is a composer, songwriter and multi instrumentalist based in Brighton, UK. He uses cello and saxophone to create unique, evolving sounds and evocative melodies, often approaching his instruments in unconventional ways. Experimenting with analog tape saturation, granular delays, feedback, and more to process his work, Alex?s recordings also retain a strong acoustic nature, keeping them rooted in the real world. Drawing influence from a broad range of sonic pioneers including Delia Derbyshire, Arthur Russell, and Sonic Youth, Alex attempts to create a unique musical palette.
As well as writing his own film scores, he regularly produces musical toolkits for other composers to use in their soundtracks. This sample pack mirrors these kits; filled with morphing, textural pads, rich swells, and percussive rhythms that would sit equally well in trailer music and songwriter production as they would in hip-hop and drum n bass.
As a recording artist and live performer Alex has toured the world with a number of different acts, regularly collaborating with artists such as Orlando Weeks, Gazelle Twin, William Doyle, and Tony Njoku. Alex is also a co founder of experimental DIY record label AntiGhost Moon Ray.
