Features & Additional information

Strings are the backbone to any cinematic production or film score and Kingdom of Dust – Virtuoso Strings is Montage’s answer for anyone who needs high quality, intricate, and complex string performances that you simply cannot recreate.

This pack specializes in unusual playing techniques to create unique string fx , textures, and melodies that can only be played by a handful of people and cannot be found anywhere else. A brain child of multi-talented string performer and composer Megan Shung (accompanied by session musicians Jacob Szekely and Ryan Baird), these string performances include rare techniques like plucks, trills, staccato, slides, bow scrubs and bowed tailpieces. You’ll find incredible violin, cello, string bass, and Ehru samples meant to add depth, emotion, gravitas and fear into your sound. These golden strings are ideal for the score to an apocalyptic thriller, a mind-bending drama, a gripping horror, or a tension filled period piece. Entrench yourself into the Kingdom of Dust and give your next production a string polish that your listeners will never forget. ———————Megan Shung, dubbed as ‘the 21st Century violinist’, is an acclaimed international musician based in Los Angeles. She’s known for her versatility as a violinist, erhu player, composer, producer, contractor and educator. Adept at multiple genres and styles, she has collaborated with artists including Anthony Kiedis, Michael Bublé, Seal, Jhene Aiko, Portugal the Man, Billy Childs, Carl Verheyen and Louis Cole. She is currently the co-artistic director of String Project Los Angeles (SPLA), a sponsored non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the education and performance of bowed string instruments and a Suzuki and jazz faculty at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music (PCM). She has appeared as a guest clinician and speaker across the USA and internationally with a specialty in teaching improvisation. She is also the co-founder of Wicked GOAT, a contemporary new music concert series at PCM for young people.
